Thanks for sharing, Interesting narrative. I didn’t quite look at it that way but I definitely see where you are coming from regarding the acceptableness of showing vulnerability.

As a Charlotte Hornet’s fan at the ripe age of 5, watching the Last Dance fueled my nostalgia for what the NBA was like in the 90s. It also reminded me that it was different time and place in history — pre-iphone, pre-instagram, pre-political correctness to some level.

Was the fact that they were absent purposeful to maintaining the black Jesus persona, or a desire on his part to shelter his family from living in his shadows?

Celebrity children today are often pimped out as continued legacies of who their parents are, without much room to be defined as anything more.

Does putting them in the limelight make them less or more “just MJ’s kids”. And by keeping them away, do they have a chance to craft their own narrative, or regardless, are they “stuck” there?

You get the sense he greatly values privacy. I have a feeling he pulled a lot of the strings on the production of this one to keep his family out of it. I mean, it’s not like he needs the money.
