Great read! Makes me think of dating. People feared random conversations in coffee shops and bars would disappear when dating apps became introduced which in some cases, my friends would argue did happen.
While the apps did solve for the chance encounter, I wonder if we are somehow less motivated to act on serendipity when it's digital? I can't tell you the number of times i've heard people just want to 'chat' but meet in-person.
Motivations and actions play in the emotional realm and without the "spark of a physical encounter" serendipity might just take a very different shape...
